  : I arrived at the property to find it closed due to major maintenance work. I was not notified by them before. There was a note on the door. They did however transfer my reservation to a nearby motel, which turned out to be very nice.

  : TLDR: GrandStaircase Inn was uncommunicative and took our money for a booking even through they were closed and had no intention of providing the booked accommodation. Booking.com would not cancel our booking or provide us with a refund even though the accommodation could not be reached for months and the reviews on their own site indicated that it was closed. We booked prior to other reviews indicating that the Grand Staircase Inn was closed. When we saw those reviews we called booking.com who said they could only cancel the booking if GrandStaircase Inn agreed. We repeatedly tried to contact GrandStaircase Inn for weeks without any response. Booking.com was also unable to contact the accommodation, but refused to cancel our reservation. We received an email from GrandStaircase Inn a day before our stay (halfway through our trip - also we are not from the US so had limited wifi access), indicating that they had re-booked us elsewhere. Given that we knew it was closed we had booked other accommodations as we did not want to be stranded in the middle of our trip. Overall this was a terrible experience, a huge waste of time and unneeded stress.

  : Nothing.
  : We arrived to find the property was a construction site & had not been operating for some time. We returned to Tropic to find alternative accommodation & found out PURELY BY CHANCE at another property that they had a main line flood up to 3 MONTHS earlier so had to close for remodelling. They rebooked us at an alternative location which we found out by PURE FLUKE & had taken our money the day before we were due! 10 days later back home, I discovered an email sent to us a few HOURS before we were due to arrive! We accept floods can happen but not telling us sooner is totally unacceptable.

  : Our reservation was transferred to the Red Ledges Inn in Tropic because the Grand Staircase Inn had water damage from a watermain break and couldn't accommodate us. So this rating is actually for the Red Ledges Inn. Thank you for taking our reservation.

  : Friendly staff, quick check in, fast response when asked for an extra towel.
  : The Grand Staircase Inn property is shut down because of flooding issues and they had not warned me. The check in at the partner motel up the road went without incident.

  : NOTHING.
  : First of all, I did NOT stay at the Grand Staircase Inn because they had a main water break and everything was flooded, so I was re-routed to Red Ledges in Tropic, Utah. The motel looks ok from the outside, and once you get inside the building where your room is everything looks ok, but once you step inside your room you start to notice that there is hardly anyplace to put your gear if you are hiking for the day, or have stuff you don't want to leave in your vehicle. My room had torn and broken chairs, dim lighting in the bedroom area where you need light, too much light where the sink is located and the toilet was so low to the ground it almost felt like a Turkish toilet (a hole in the ground). The view outside the one window was awful so I never opened the curtains, the one photo I posted is the view from my window.

  : That they worked with us for multiple families to be together. Glad we stayed at the Red Ledges Inn in Tropic, seemed much better than the original Grand Staircase. Nice that it included breakfast.
  : It would have been nice to get an email regarding the change of hotels before we arrived. We had to backtrack from Cannonville to Tropic. Not far but inconvenient.

  : Nothing, the place is closed down.
  : Hotel didn't notify us until the morning of our reservation that they were shut down due to 'water main break'. The alternative offered was not sufficient for my family. I had to spend over 2 hours of my vacation trying to resolve the problem with the hotel, who didn't have anyone answering phones anywhere, and booking.com.
